Important Precautions
- Do not use amlexanox if you are sensitive or allergic to it or any of the ingredients in the medication.
- The safety and effectiveness of this drug has not been determined for people with a compromised immune system. If you have acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), are taking immunosuppressant drugs, or are receiving chemotherapy, talk to your health-care practitioner before using this drug.
- Wash your hands immediately after you apply amlexanox. If paste gets into your eyes, wash them out immediately with cool water.
Pregnant Women
The effect of amlexanox on pregnant or nursing women is not known. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, discuss use of this drug with your health-care practitioner, who can weigh the potential benefits versus the potential risks.
Seniors
There are no special precautions for older adults.
