Getting Started

As you construct this basket, keep in mind that the “good” side of the reed will show on both the inside and outside of the basket, so be careful when starting a weaver. Remember that the rough side of the reed will be facing you as you weave the inside wall.

You Will Need

1/4" (6 mm) flat reed, natural and dyed in three colors (spokes)
1/4" (6 mm) flat reed, dyed (weavers and inside wall)
1-1/64" flat-oval reed, natural (weavers and outside wall)
1/4" (6 mm) flat reed (rim rows)
3/8" (1 cm) flat-oval reed (rim)
1/8" (3mm) ash or cane (lasher)
Miniature sea grass (rim)

Finished Measurements

Approximately 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" (14 cm x 14 cm)
