Getting Started
In constructing this basket, you get to decide how to add the ribs. There is no absolute rule for this: in general, one is added to each side every other row. For this basket, you can choose whether to insert the rib after you have finished the fourth row (for instance), or at the beginning of the fourth row, or even after the fifth row is begun. In any case, be sure to keep the overs and unders in correct order, and insert the weaver behind the hoop one round and in front of it the next.
Sometimes depending on how the weaving is running, it’s possible for the weaver to go behind the rim twice, in which case you need to reconsider the placement of the rib. The bottom should be flat. Then, from rib 4 outward, the lengths of the ribs begin to decrease.
