Getting Started
A good flat God’s Eye is essential. The success of the basket depends on its construction. Don’t be discouraged if your first try isn’t perfect. Simply take it out and try again. That’s the beauty of basket making.
Using organic materials, such as honeysuckle, grapevine, or wisteria, make it a natural addition to any room.
Splicing Basics
While weaving this basket, when you have 2" or 3" (5 cm or 7.6 cm) of weaver left, it is time to join a new soaked weaver. This joining shouldn’t take place at the rim, so backtrack if necessary. Overlap the new weaver on top of the old one (figure 1). You will be weaving with two pieces of reed for three or four ribs. Hide the ends under a rib.
