Getting Started

You can make this basket as shallow or as deep as you like. The “D” handle is easy to make because you incorporate it into the basket at the beginning.

Skill Level

  • Beginner

You Will Need

  • 10" x 14" (25.5 cm x 28 cm) D handle
  • 3/4" (1.9 cm) flat reed (stakes)
  • 1/2" (1.3 cm) flat reed (weavers)
  • 1/2" (1.3 cm) colored flat reed, long enough to go around the basket two times
  • 1/4" (6 mm) colored flat reed, long enough to go around the basket one time
  • 5/8" (1.6 cm) flat-oval reed (rim)
  • #6 round reed or sea grass (rim filler)
  • 1/4" (6 mm) flat reed (lashing and base filler)

Finished Measurements

  • Approximately 10" x 18" x 14" (25.5 cm x 46 cm x 28 cm)
