About This Drug
Benazepril is used primarily to control high blood pressure. It belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
Benazepril, like other ACE inhibitors, prevents the conversion of a hormone (angiotensin I) to another hormone, angiotensin II. Because the conversion does not occur, blood vessels relax and blood pressure is reduced.
