Blackjack Strategy: Doubling Down
You should double down whenever your hand shows a significant advantage over the dealer’s showing upcard. However, whether your hand has an advantage over the dealer’s depends on both the number of decks being used and whether the dealer has to hit or stand on soft 17.
The three tables below indicate when doubling down is the best strategy. Each table uses the following key:
Single Deck, Dealer Hits or Stands on Soft 17
Multiple Decks, Dealer Stands on Soft 17
Multiple Decks, Dealer Hits on Soft 17
