About This Drug
Oral contraceptives are synthetic female sex hormones, used to prevent pregnancy and to regulate menstrual periods.
These drugs suppress the pituitary hormones, which stimulate ovulation; alter the uterine lining so that it resists implantation by a fertilized egg; and change the mucus at the cervix opening to prevent sperm from entering.
