Getting Started

Once you’ve completed the border pattern and the yoke, the rest of the dress is a breeze. It’s easy to make the pattern longer if necessary before assembly.

  • Size E hook
  • Tapestry needle
The sample project was made in size 9 to 12 months, using 4 skeins (each 200 yards [183m]) of Jaeger Matchmaker Merino 4-ply 1-3/4 ounce (50 g) yarn (100% merino wool) in Opal, color #717.

  • single crochet (sc)
  • double crochet (dc)
  • half-double crochet (hdc)

Pattern Notes

  • The yoke and sleeves are worked from one wrist to the other.
  • In the yoke and on the sleeves, the chain at the begginning of each row counts as a stitch.
  • In the skirt, the chain at the begginning of each round marks the center back.
  • As you crochet in the round on the skirt, each row of stitches slants to the left. You need to straighten the rows when you block the skirt before assembly.
