Instructions

Hat

  • Starting at center top, with A, ch 4 and close into a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
  • Rnd 1 (WS): Work 10 sc in ring, don’t join, work in a spiral, place a marker in first st, move marker up as work progresses (10 sc).
  • Rnd 2: 2 dc in each sc around (20 dc).
  • Rnd 3: *Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around (30 dc).
  • Rnd 4: *Dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * 6 times, dc in each of next 2 dc (37 dc).
  • Rnd 5: *Dc in each of next 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * 6 times, dc in each of next 2 dc (42 dc).
  • Rnd 6-9: Dc in each dc around (42 dc).
  • Rnd 10: Sc in each dc around (42 sc).
  • Rnd 11: Join one strand of B, working with 1 strand each of A and B held tog as one, *sc in each of next 8 sc, sc2tog in next 2 sts; rep from * 3 times, sc in last 2 sc (38 sc). Fasten off A.
  • Rnd 12: With B, sc in each sc around, sl st in next sc to join. Fasten off B. Weave in ends. Turn inside out to wear.

Scarf

  • With A, ch 12, turn.
  • Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each of next 7 ch, turn (8 dc).
  • Rows 2-80: Ch 3, dc in each dc across (8 dc). Fasten off, leaving a 4"/10cm tail.

Side Border

  • Leaving a 4"/10cm tail, join B in corner dc in last row of scarf, working across long edge of scarf, ch 1, sc around the post of row-end st, sc in base of st; rep from * across to corner st (160 sc). Fasten off, leaving a 4"/10cm tail.
  • Rep Side Border on other long edge of scarf.

Fringe

  • Cut 4 8"/20cm lengths of B. Using 2 strands for each fringe, single knot one fringe in each corner of scarf, working sewing lengths into fringe.
  • Cut 18 8"/20cm lengths of A. Using one strand for each fringe, single knot one fringe into each st across each short edge of scarf. Trim fringe even as desired.
