Getting Started

“Fool-the-eye” painting, or trompe l'oeil, has been around for centuries, and involves painting that seems to create an illusion of depth and texture.
Creating successful trompe l'oeil requires advanced drawing, painting, and rendering skills, as well as proper surface preparation. You're better off giving yourself time to practice your technique and to prepare your surface thoroughly rather than just jumping into the project.
