The iPhone contains a built-in rechargeable battery. According to Apple, an iPhone will remain charged for 250 hours if it’s just on standby. Under normal use (i.e., not just leaving the iPhone on standby), a fully charged battery should last 6–24 hours, depending on how you’ve been using the
iPhone, as shown in the table below.

You can charge your iPhone in two ways:
- A power outlet: Connect the USB cable that came with your iPhone to the phone and to the USB power adapter. Plug the adapter into an outlet.
- Your computer: Use the dock and USB cable that came with your iPhone to connect it to a USB 2.0 port on your computer. When charging in this way, make sure to disconnect your iPhone properly before unplugging it (see How to Sync Your iPhone).
