Instructions

Making the Links

  1. Cut a 3" (7.6 cm) piece of wire. Hammer the last 1⁄4" (6 mm) of the wire on the steel block. Repeat for the other end.
  2. Grasp one end of the wire with the tip of the round-nose pliers. Rotate your wrist to form a small loop. Repeat on the other end of the wire, so each has a loop facing the same direction (figure 1).

  3. Grasp the center of the wire with the largest part of the round-nose pliers’ jaws. Bend the wire until the two small loops meet, making a U shape (figure 2).

  4. Use round-nose pliers to grasp one side of the wire 1⁄4" to 1⁄2" (6 mm to 1.3 cm) below the bend you just made. Rotate your wrist so the wire end bends downward. Repeat for the other half of the wire to create an M-shaped link (figure 3).

  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 to create seven or eight more links, depending on the length you want for your bracelet. Set aside.

Making the Clasp Eye

  1. Cut a 1" (2.5 cm) piece of wire. Hammer the last 1⁄4" to 1⁄2" (6 mm to 1.3 cm) of the wire on the steel block. Repeat for the other end.
  2. Grasp one end of the wire about three-quarters of the way down the round-nose pliers’ jaws. Rotate your wrist away from you until the wire touches itself, creating a large loop.
  3. Grasp the other end of the wire with the tip of the round-nose pliers and rotate your wrist away from you until the wire touches itself, creating a small loop that goes in the opposite direction (figure 4). Set aside.

Making the Clasp Hook

  1. Cut a 2" (5 cm) piece of wire. Hammer the last 1⁄4" to 1⁄2" (6 mm to 1.3 cm) of the wire on the steel block. Repeat for the other end.
  2. Grasp one end of the wire near the tip of the pliers. Rotate your wrist away from you until the wire touches itself, creating a small loop.
  3. Grasp the wire about 1⁄2" to 3⁄4" (1.3 cm to 1.9 cm) above the loop you just created with the largest part of the round-nose pliers’ jaws, and bend the wire until it meets the small loop you just made. Grasp the other end of the wire near the tip of the round-nose pliers, and bend the wire in the opposite direction from the last bend until the wire touches itself, creating a small decorative loop. Hammer the hooked portion of this piece (figure 5). Set aside.

Connecting the Links

  1. Lay out the links on the work surface so the first link is positioned like an M, the following one like a W, the next like an M, etc.
  2. Open the large jump rings. Connect the first two links together using two jump rings. Close the jump rings (figure 6). Repeat until all the links are connected.

  3. Use two jump rings to attach the hook half of the clasp to the small loop on one end of the bracelet. Close the jump rings. Use chain-nose pliers to open the end loop on the other end of the bracelet and attach the eye half of the clasp. Close the loop.

Creating the Dangles

  1. String one round bead, one spacer bead, one bicone bead, one spacer bead, and one round bead onto one head pin. Begin a wrapped loop. Before completing the wrap, attach the loop to a bend on the first link of the bracelet. Complete the wrap (figure 7). Trim any excess wire and use chain-nose pliers to tuck in the wire end.

  2. String one round bead, one spacer bead, one helix bead, one spacer bead, and one round bead onto one head pin. As in step 16, make a wrapped loop that attaches to the same bend you embellished in step 16.
  3. Continue making dangles following steps 16 and 17, and add them along the length of the bracelet as you go. Note: You’ll want to add all of the dangles in the following steps to the same side of the bracelet so they hang properly when worn.
  4. Open a small jump ring and connect it to a baroque bead. Attach it to a link on the bracelet and close the jump ring. Repeat to add the remaining baroque beads so they are evenly spaced down the length of the bracelet.
  5. Open a bail and connect it to a heart bead. Close the bail. Open a small jump ring and connect it to the bail’s loop. Attach the jump ring to a link on the bracelet and close the jump ring. Repeat to add the remaining heart beads so they are evenly spaced down the length of the bracelet.
  6. Open a small jump ring and connect it to a charm. Attach it to a link on the bracelet and close the jump ring. Repeat to add the remaining charms so they are evenly spaced down the length of the bracelet.
  7. Open a small jump ring and connect it to the crescent bead. Attach it to a link at the end of the bracelet and close the jump ring.
