Instructions
Beading the Bottom Fringe
- Thread the beading needle with a 24" (61 cm) length of thread. Make a tight knot at the end of the thread and secure it to one of the bottom corners of the bag. Trim the tail close to the knot.
- String on seven size 11˚ seed beads, one fire-polished bead, and one size 11˚ seed bead. Skip the last seed bead strung and pass the needle back through the fire-polished bead. String on seven size 11˚ seed beads and sew into the bottom of the bag about 1⁄2" (1.3 cm) from your initial knot (see figure 1).

- Repeat step 2 across the bottom of the bag until you’ve added seven fringed segments in all. Secure the last fringed segment with a knot and trim the thread.
Beading the Ribbon Drawstring
- Use a tight knot to secure a 12" (30.5 cm) length of thread to the end of one of the drawstrings. Sewing into the drawstring’s knot will ensure a strong connection. String on eleven size 11˚ seed beads, one fire-polished bead, and one size 11˚ seed bead. Skip the last seed bead strung, and pass the needle back through the rest of the beads (see figure 2). Sew into the ribbon again to further secure the fringed leg.

- Repeat step 4 to make three more fringed legs on the drawstring’s knot, one using another fire-polished bead, one using a crystal bead, and the third using a size 6˚ seed bead. Secure the thread and trim.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 on the end of the other drawstring.
Finishing Touches
- Sew the silk flower to the center top of the bag. Be sure not to sew into the drawstring or you won’t be able to close the bag.
- Fill the bag with lavender petals and close the drawstring.
