Getting Started
Embellishing everyday objects is an exciting and fun way to decorate your home. This project shows you how to
embellish the handle of a teapot.

Materials
- Teapot with removable handle
- 2 ferrules, 1⁄16" (1.6 mm) wide (found in hardware stores)
- 18" (45.7 cm) of twisted multistrand steel wire cable, 1⁄16" (1.6 mm) wide (also found in hardware stores)
- 12" (30.5 cm) of 28-gauge silver wire
- 8 dark-brown-and-white polished bone tube beads with holes large enough to be strung onto the wire cable, 3⁄8" x 3⁄4" (1 x 1.9 cm)
- 3 dark-brown-and-white carved bone barrel beads with holes large enough to be strung onto the wire cable, 5⁄8" x 3⁄4" (1.6 x 1.9 cm)
- 3 dark-brown-and-white polished bone barrel beads with holes large enough to be strung onto the wire cable, 3⁄4" x 1" (1.9 x 2.5 cm)
- 64 black round glass beads, 3⁄16" (4.7 mm)
- 64 black round glass beads, 1⁄8" (3 mm)

Techniques: Wire Twists
Wire twists are an essential technique for many beading projects. To begin a clean, professional-looking twist, make a loop by crossing the wire ends or wrapping the wire around a base. Arrange the wires so they make a V shape. Grasp the wire at the crossing point, and twist the loop, not the wire ends. The resulting twist should look like a rope, with even twists for both wires (see figure 1).
