Instructions

  1. Oxidizing the silver chain, toggle clasp, and jump rings gives them an antiqued look. To do this, first dissolve the liver of sulphur in hot water. Dip the silver pieces, and dry thoroughly. Use 0000 steel wool to rub off the dark finish and polish the silver.
  2. Using wire cutters, cut the rolo chain into eight 2" (5 cm) lengths, and four 3-1⁄2" (8.9 cm) lengths.
  3. Cut the sterling silver wire into five 2" (5 cm) lengths. Thread each bead onto a length of wire. Using the round-nose pliers, wrap the end of the wire twice to make double loops on both ends of the bead.
  4. Attach a jump ring to each loop. Then attach two 2" (5 cm) lengths of chain to one end of each bead. Connect the five beads by attaching the double chains to the jump rings on the beads.
  5. Attach two 3-1⁄2" (8.9 cm) lengths of rolo chain to each of the remaining jump rings on the end of the string of beads. Using jump rings, attach the ends of the chains to the toggle clasp.
