Instructions

Necklace

  1. Cut a 22" (55.9 cm) length of flexible beading wire, then string on one crimp bead and one 3mm silver bead. Pass the wire through a jump ring, and thread it back through the silver bead and crimp bead, leaving a 1" (2.5 cm) tail of wire coming from the crimp.
  2. Crush the crimp, and then string on another 3mm silver bead, making sure to cover the stringing wire and wire tail. Placing the two silver beads on either side of the crimp bead will help prevent the wire from rubbing on the crimp, thus reducing the chance of breakage at the clasp. It’s important to use 3mm silver beads with large holes because it’s easier to pass two strands of wire through them.
  3. String a pink opal nugget, a silver flower spacer, and three top-drilled heishi pearls. Follow with another silver flower spacer and a pink opal nugget. Repeat this pattern using all of the beads. The necklace should begin and end with a pink opal nugget.
  4. String a 3mm silver bead, the last crimp bead, and the last 3mm silver bead.
  5. Pass the wire through a jump ring, and then back through the silver and crimp beads and one opal nugget. At this point, before crimping, pick up the necklace and allow it to relax in your hands. You want to feel some play in the beads to prevent the necklace from being too stiff. There should be 1⁄8" to 1⁄4" (3 to 5mm) of wire showing between the last pink opal bead and the silver bead. Crush the crimp and trim the excess wire.
  6. Attach the clasp to the jump rings.

Earrings

  1. String a pink opal onto a head pin. Using the round-nose pliers, make the loop for a wrapped loop, attach one end of a length of chain to it, then use the flat-nose pliers to hold the loop while you wrap the tail around the wire. Trim any excess wire.
  2. String three heishi pearls on three separate head pins. Using wrapped loops, attach them where desired on the length of chain. Attach the ear wire to the middle of the length of chain, allowing the chain to drape and the pearls to dangle.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the other earring.
