Instructions
- Separate the two slide clasp pieces while making the bracelet. Be certain to attach each strand to the correct loop. Using round-nose pliers and the 24-gauge wire, create a loop about 3/4" (1.9 cm) from the end of the wire. Slide the loop through one of the outer loops on one of the pieces of the slide clasp. Hold the wire loop with the chain-nose pliers and twist the wire around. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Slide on the following beads: one 4mm smoky quartz bead, one 2mm gold-filled bead, one 4mm shell pearl bead, one 2mm gold-filled bead, and one 12mm shell pearl bead.
- Bend the wire about 45° and, using round-nose pliers, make a loop in the wire. Slide the chain onto the loop. Hold the loop with the chain-nose pliers and wrap the wire around to secure. Cut off the excess wire.
- Cut off all the chain,
leaving only one link attached. (If you prefer, you can use a jump ring here instead of one link of the chain.) Using your fingers, curve this just-finished beaded wire to form a slight outward-facing curve (see figure 1).

- Using the round-nose pliers, make a new loop in the wire approximately 3/4" (1.9 cm) from the end. Slide the wire through the one link of chain you attached in step 4. Hold the loop with the chain-nose pliers and wrap the wire around. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Slide on the following beads: one 4mm smoky quartz bead, one 2mm gold-filled bead, one 4mm shell pearl bead, one 3mm gold-filled bead, one 4mm shell pearl bead, one 2mm gold-filled bead, and one 4mm smoky quartz bead.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 of looping the wire, attaching it to one
chain link (or use a jump ring, if you prefer), and curving the beaded wire (see figure 2).

- Make a loop in the wire using the round-nose pliers. Slide it through the one link of chain. Holding the loop with the chain-nose pliers, wrap the wire around to secure it. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Slide one 4mm smoky quartz bead, one 14mm shell pearl bead, and one smoky quartz bead onto the wire.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 of looping the wire, attaching it to chain or a jump ring, and curving the beaded wire.
- Loop the wire again using the round-nose pliers, slide it through the link of chain, and wrap the wire around with the chain-nose pliers. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Slide on the following beads: one 4mm shell pearl bead, one 2mm gold-filled bead, one 4mm smoky quartz bead, one 8mm shell pearl bead, one 4mm smoky quartz bead, one 2mm gold-filled bead, and one 4mm shell pearl bead.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 of looping the wire, attaching it to chain or a jump ring, and curving the beaded wire.
Completing the Outer Strands
- You’re now just past the midpoint of the first strand. Make three more curved beaded sections before attaching this strand to the opposite end of the slide clasp. For these beaded sections, repeat the bead sequence used in steps 9, 6, and 2, in that order, but attach the section from step 2 in reverse order, so it mirrors the other end of the strand.
- After making the final curve, attach the
strand to the slide clasp; make sure the pieces of the clasp are oriented as shown when you attach the strand (see figure 3).

- You’ve now finished the first strand. Repeat this entire strand, working steps 1 through 15, for the other outer loops of the slide clasp (see figure 4). Be especially careful to attach each strand to the correct loop of the clasp.

Making the Inner Strands
- Make a loop with 24-gauge wire using the round-nose pliers. Slide this loop through one of the inner loops on one of the pieces of the slide clasp.
- Hold the wire loop with the chain-nose pliers and twist the wire around. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Make a new loop in the wire using round-nose pliers. Holding this second loop with the chain-nose pliers, wrap the wire around the twist you made in step 18. Cut off the excess wire.
- Make a new loop in the wire 3/4" (1.9 cm) from the end. Slide this loop through the twisted wire loop attached to the slide clasp. Using the chain-nose pliers, hold this loop and twist the wires around. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Slide on one 8mm shell pearl bead (see figure 5) and
make a new loop in the wire. Place 3/8" (9.5 mm) of chain on the loop, hold that loop with the chain-nose pliers, and wrap the wire around to secure the chain.

- Repeat steps 17 through 21 for the other inner loop on the slide clasp.
- Create a new loop with the wire and place both chain ends on this loop. Hold the loop with the chain-nose pliers and wrap the wire around to secure. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Slide one 16mm shell pearl bead onto the wire. Loop the wire again, attaching two more 3/8" (9.5 mm) chain lengths to this loop before you secure it.
- Make a new loop with the wire and attach it to one of the pieces of chain you added in step 24. Twist the wire around to secure the loop and cut off the shorter wire end. Slide on one 8mm shell pearl bead and loop the wire again. Attach another 3/8" (9.5 mm) length of chain. Wrap the wire around to secure the loop and cut off the excess wire. Repeat this step with the other piece of chain.
- Repeat steps 24 and 25 two more times to arrive at the other end of the bracelet.
- Make twisted wire loop links to attach each strand to the slide clasp (see figure 6).

- Next, attach the central strand of the bracelet to the outer strands. Make a loop with the 24-gauge wire. Slide this loop through one of the loops at either side of the 16mm shell pearl bead in the center. Using the chain-nose pliers, hold the loop and wrap the wires around. Cut off the shorter wire end.
- Slide one 8mm shell pearl bead onto the wire and loop the wire
again. Make this loop perpendicular to the first loop, instead of both facing the same way. (When completed, the loop should appear as in figure 7.)

- Slide this loop through
the two loops from the outer strands that are joined by the single link of chain. The little chain link that was there to hold it all together will now be encircled by this new wire loop. Wrap the wire to secure the loop and cut off the excess wire (see figure 8).

- Repeat steps 28 through 30 three more times until all sides of the center bead are attached.
- Using one 4mm shell pearl bead and one 8mm shell pearl bead, make the same connections as in steps 28 through 30, placing these sections on the inner side of the two remaining 16mm beads (see figure 9).
