Getting Started

This hat has a repeated cable pattern that is 2"/5 cm wide. It can be altered for a tighter or looser fit by decreasing or increasing the number of pattern repeats.

Skill Level

  • Intermediate

You Will Need

  • Approximately 220 yd/202 m, 4 oz/113 g of worsted-weight yarn
  • Approximately 10 g of size 11 seed beads
  • Size 9 (5.5mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
  • Size 11 beading needle
  • Beading thread in color to match yarn and beads
  • Tapestry needle for sewing together seams

Stitch Used

  • Stockinette stitch

Gauge

  • Always take time to check your gauge.
  • 16 sts = 4"/10 cm
  • 26 rows = 4"/10 cm

Material Used in the Featured Hat

  • 2 skeins of Brown Sheep’s Lamb’s Pride, 85% wool/15% mohair, 190 yd/173 m, 4 oz/113 g per skein, color #115, Oatmeal.

Finished Size

  • Fits head size up to 22"/56 cm

Finished Knitted Measurements

  • From cuff to center top, 10-1⁄2"/26.5 cm
  • Turned up cuff, 3"/7.5 cm
  • Circumference, 22"/56 cm
