Getting Started
You’ll find that the simple Garter Stitch design makes the hat very easy and quick to knit.
Note: A and B are worked together throughout. The hat is knitted flat, then the edges sewn to form the finished shape.
Skill Level
- Experienced Beginner
Materials
- Approximately 440yd/402m cashmere or cashmere blend medium weight yarn
- Color A, 220yd/201m in brown
- Color B, 220yd/201m in black
- Knitting needles, 6.5mm (size 10-1⁄2 U.S.), nickel-plated needles recommended, or size to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle for sewing seams
- Pins for fastening seams
Gauge
- 9-1⁄4 sts and 12 rows = 4"/10cm in Garter Stitch
- Always take time to check your gauge.

- Color A, 1 skein of Joseph Galler’s Mimosa, 85% cashmere/15% nylon, worsted weight, 3.6oz/100g = approximately 220yd/201m, in Beaver
- Color B, 1 skein of Joseph Galler’s Mimosa, 85% cashmere/15% nylon, worsted weight, 3.6oz/100g = approximately 220yd/201m, in Black

Finished Measurements
- 19 x 16"/48 x 20cm (before seams are sewn)
