The Performance Appraisal Process
The performance appraisal process involves five main steps that are conducted throughout the performance period (usually 12 months) in the following order:
- Plan: Establish job goals and expectations.
- Perform: Work to meet goals and expectations.
- Evaluate: Assess job performance in appraisal forms.
- Discuss: Meet to review forms and share feedback.
- Finalize: Sign off on forms and implement feedback.
The following tables provide an overview of all five steps of the performance appraisal process.
