About This Drug
Prazosin is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It may be prescribed alone or with other antihypertensive medications, such as thiazide diuretics or beta-blockers. This drug must be taken regularly in order to be effective.
Prazosin works by controlling impulses along select nerve pathways in the body. This action relaxes and expands blood vessels, thus lowering blood pressure.
