Side Effects
Side effects are extremely common, and 14% of people stop taking riluzole because of them. Inform your health-care practitioner if you experience any severe or persistent problems. Call your health-care practitioner immediately if you feel feverish and ill. Only he or she can determine whether you should continue to take this drug.
- Common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, appetite loss, dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, fainting, fatigue, a tingling sensation around the mouth, reduced lung function, pneumonia
- Less Common or Rare: upset stomach, gas, back pain, headache, runny or stuffy nose, cough, general feeling of unwellness, high blood pressure, swelling in the arms and legs, joint pain, mouth infection, urinary infection, rapid heartbeat
