Mayonnaise Stains
- Scrape up any excess mayonnaise by using a spoon or butter knife.
- Apply cornstarch to the stain to soak up any excess grease on the surface of the material.
- Wipe up cornstarch with a dry white towel.
- Apply liquid dishwashing detergent to a moist white towel and blot the stain.
- Launder as normal.
- If the stain remains, treat with turpentine.
- Wash in the hottest water the fabric can tolerate. If the fabric can’t be washed, cover the treated stain with a paper towel and heat with a steam iron. Since turpentine is flammable, do not place any articles cleaned with it into a dryer.
