Paint Stains

Oil-Based

1. Mix 1 teaspoon mild liquid detergent with 1 cup lukewarm water and blot.
2. Sponge with water and blot until dry.
3. If the stain persists, apply a paint thinner, such as turpentine. Follow the directions carefully on the label of the cleaning agent you use, as paint thinner can be dangerous to handle or inhale.

Acrylic or Latex

1. Prepare a solution of 1 part dishwashing detergent and 2 parts warm water.
2. Apply the solution to the stain by using a white cloth.
3. Agitate the stain with a dry untreated cloth.
4. Blot again with the detergent-water solution.
5. Rinse the stain with water and let dry.
6. If the stain persists, apply rubbing alcohol to a dry white towel and blot until the stain breaks down.
7. Sponge with cool water and let dry.
