How to Clean Nonstick Pans
Nonstick pans are treated with a thin, slippery chemical layer that keeps food from sticking to the pot. These pans are easy to clean as long as the nonstick surface remains intact. To wash a nonstick pan:
- Wash the pan with warm, soapy water and a sponge or soft dish cloth. Don’t use any abrasive cleaners such as Bon Ami, or abrasive tools such as steel wool, stiff brushes, or even light-duty nylon pads.
- If you see any signs of scratching or flaking in a nonstick pan, throw it away. Otherwise, the nonstick surface may flake off into the food you’re preparing.
