How to Wash Enamel Pots and Pans
Both cast iron and steel pots, pans, and other cookware may sometimes be covered with a surface of enamel. To wash enameled cast iron or steel:
- Let the cookware cool before washing. Sudden temperature changes, such as exposing the cookware to water before cooling it, can crack the enamel.
- Wash with warm, soapy water and a sponge or dish cloth, or a white light-duty nylon pad if necessary. Don’t use abrasive cleaners or tools.
- Dry the pots or pans as soon as they’re washed and rinsed to keep the underlying metal from rusting.
